Care instructions for EasyRigging PBO Moth shrouds
The EasyRigging PBO shrouds are a very fragile product. The upmost care is required to ensure long-life and avoid damage. The following instructions should be followed prior to using the PBO shrouds.
1) Pre-stretch before first use. The PBO fibres need to bed in before attaching them to the rig. Load the shrouds between two fixed points under high-load to take the initial creep out of the cable. After doing this, the cable reinforcing will be in the correct position.
2) Ensure the spreader reinforcing can move freely in the spreader tip. If the spreader tip catches the reinforcing, it may pull, stretch and break the cable protective casing.
3) The spreader reinforcing should be in contact with the spreader tip. If the spreaders do not fit the reinforcing, do not use the shrouds. The length of the reinforcing from the top shackle should be: 1720mm for the forestay and 1750mm for the sidestay.
4) Avoid kinking the cable when uncoiling. Kinks will cause damage to the protective casing.
5) Do not store and travel with the spreaders attached to the cable. Keeping the cable attached may damage the protective casing where it exits the spreader reinforcing.
6) If the protective cover is damaged or broken, do not use. PBO is sensitive to light and salt water, and may fail if exposed.
